DESCRIPTION: The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a * Dust Advisory for... Maricopa County in south central Arizona... * Until 600 PM MST. * At 507 PM MST, a wall of dust was along a line extending from Salt River Indian Community to North Mountain Park to El Mirage to Perryville, moving north at 25 mph. HAZARD...Less than three miles visibility with strong wind in excess of 30 mph. SOURCE...Trained weather spotters. IMPACT...Hazardous travel. * This includes the following highways... AZ Interstate 10 between mile markers 122 and 158. AZ Interstate 17 between mile markers 195 and 226. AZ Route 51 between mile markers 1 and 15. Locations impacted include... Phoenix, Mesa, Glendale, Scottsdale, Tempe, Peoria, Surprise, Avondale, Goodyear, Buckeye, El Mirage, Paradise Valley, Tolleson, Youngtown, and Waddell.
INSTRUCTION: Blowing dust brings reduced visibility, leading to dangerous driving conditions. If driving, avoid blowing dust if possible. If caught in dense blowing dust, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake. Motorists should not drive into an area of blowing dust. PULL ASIDE STAY ALIVE!

Freezing rain is a condition where precipitation which has fallen in the form of
water droplets reaches temperatures which are below freezing and freezes upon
coming into contact
with surface objects. The result of this precipitation is a glaze of ice which
can be damaging to plants and man-made structures. A severe onset of freezing
rain which results in a very thick glaze of ice is known as an ice storm.

Hail is a form of precipitation which is recognized by large solid balls or
clumps of ice. Hail is created by thunderstorm clouds with strong updrafts of wind.
As the hailstones remain in the updraft, ice is deposited onto them until their
weight becomes heavy enough for them to fall to the earth's surface.
Hail storms can cause significant damage to crops, aircrafts, and man-made structures,
despite the fact that the duration is usually less than ten minutes.
